Tender Summary: Installation of Industrial Gas Stove

Objectives

The primary objective is to secure a certified contractor to safely install an industrial gas stove in the main kitchen of Manguzi Hospital. This installation ensures uninterrupted food preparation capabilities during electricity outages while strictly adhering to national health, safety, and engineering regulations.

Scope

This is a one-off service contract encompassing the complete delivery, setup, and commissioning of a gas cooking system. The scope includes:

• Positioning a six-burner gas stove with an oven inside a galvanized cage designed for a 48 kg LP gas cylinder.
• Supplying and routing all necessary gas piping, regulators, valves, and connectors.
• Integrating the new system with the facility’s existing Vulcan gas stove infrastructure.
• Conducting leak detection, operational testing, and providing safety training to designated hospital staff.
• Issuing a formal installation compliance certificate upon successful completion.

Technical Requirements

• All materials, fittings, and workmanship must be SANS/SABS approved and compliant with national engineering standards.
• Piping must be SABS-approved and installed at a minimum distance of five metres from both the stove and the gas cylinder cage.
• Required components include a cylinder connector regulator, two ½-inch safety brass shut-off valves, and flare connectors (recommended for all joints).
• Specialized gas seal tape must be applied to all connection points to prevent leaks.
• The contractor must perform rigorous gas leak detection tests and full operational test runs prior to handover.
• A detailed compliance certificate confirming adherence to all safety and performance standards must be provided.
