Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to repair playground equipment at Kite Park and Church Square within Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ). The project aims to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of the playground facilities, supporting the broader goals of service excellence, safety, and community well-being.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• General building works, electrical, glazing, plumbing, carpentry, civil, mechanical, and fire systems related to playground repairs.
• Specific tasks such as excavation, installation of playground equipment (joywheel, jungle gym, swings), signage, and safety features.
• Site inspection, compliance with safety standards, and removal of damaged materials.
• Completion of all works within an anticipated period of one month.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Full compliance with occupational health & safety legislation, including the Occupational Injuries & Diseases Act.
• Adherence to specifications for playground equipment, including dimensions, materials, and safety features.
• Completion of the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and specifications provided in the tender documents.
• Proper installation, testing, and certification of electrical and plumbing fixtures.
• Provision of all Certificates of Compliance (COCs) for electrical, plumbing, roofing, glazing, etc., upon completion.
• Use of approved proprietary materials and obtaining prior approval for any additional materials not specified.
• Implementation of environmental management measures, including waste disposal and hazardous material handling.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

Eligible bidders must meet the following criteria:

• Appointment to the JCPZ Panel of Construction, Repairs, and Maintenance Works with a CIDB grading of 1GB/1SQ.
• Completion of the Bill of Quantities and specifications, and attendance at a compulsory site briefing.
• Provision of proof of residence for all directors (not older than three months) or valid lease agreements.
• Valid COIDA Certificate (Letter of Good Standing) from the Department of Labour.
• Submission of a signed Joint Venture (JV) agreement, if applicable, demonstrating contributions, participation percentages, management structure, dispute resolution measures, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated experience in playground and civil works, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems installation.
• Ability to plan and complete the project within the specified timeframe, with adequate resources and qualified personnel.
• Compliance with health and safety standards, environmental management, and quality assurance procedures.
