Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to facilitate the installation of enrichment structures for the Black Rhino at Johannesburg Zoo's Delta Section. The project aims to enhance the habitat and enrichment facilities for the Black Rhino, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• General building works, including electrical, glazing, plumbing, carpentry, steel works, civil, mechanical, and fire systems.
• Installation of enrichment structures specifically for Black Rhino at Johannesburg Zoo.
• Demolition and repair works to existing structures such as wooden climbing structures at Monkey Lane and Chimpz enclosures.
• Site establishment, environmental management, and adherence to occupational health and safety requirements.
• Completion period of approximately one (1) month, with planning for timely execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Full compliance with occupational health & safety legislation, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related insurance coverage.
• Adherence to specifications for all materials and installation procedures in accordance with SANS/Trade standards and manufacturer instructions.
• Proper site inspection prior to pricing and execution.
• Provision of all necessary certifications (COC's) for electrical, plumbing, roofing, glazing, and fire systems upon completion.
• Safe disposal of hazardous materials at approved dumpsites with certification.
• Implementation of environmental management measures as per project specifications.
• Strict adherence to project timelines, with penalties for delays.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

Respondents must meet the following mandatory criteria:

• Appointment to Panel with CIDB Grading of 1GB.
• Completion of the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and specifications.
• Attendance at a compulsory site briefing scheduled for 18 March 2026.
• Proof of residence for all directors (latest municipal statement not older than 3 months or valid lease agreement).
• Valid COIDA Certificate from the Department of Labour (Letter of Good Standing).
• Provision of a valid Joint Venture (JV) agreement, if applicable, detailing contributions, participation percentages, management structure, dispute resolution measures, and regulatory compliance.
• Registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) with a valid vendor number.
• Submission of completed MBD forms (MBD 1, MBD 3, MBD 4, MBD 6.1, MBD 8, MBD 9) as part of the tender documentation.
• Demonstrated experience and capacity to execute construction, repairs, and maintenance works at similar facilities.
