Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, mount, and configure a Head Office Wireless Controller and Access Points to enhance the organization's wireless network infrastructure. The project aims to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performance wireless connectivity across the Head Office facilities, supporting the operational needs of Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ).

Scope

The scope includes the procurement, installation, and configuration of wireless networking hardware, specifically:

• Wireless Controller compliant with specified technical standards
• Wireless Access Points with specified features and standards
• Configuration and integration with existing network infrastructure
• Testing and commissioning of the wireless system at the Head Office

Only bidders appointed on the panel of service providers for supply and maintenance of ICT hardware (as per tender reference) are eligible to respond.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include, but are not limited to:

• Wireless Controller supporting IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards, including Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 features such as OFDMA, MU-MIMO, TWT, BSS coloring, and beamforming
• Access Points supporting multiple frequency bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz), with specified data rates (up to 9 Gbps for Wi-Fi 6/7 models)
• Support for VLAN tagging, Link Aggregation, and CAPWAP protocols
• Compliance with relevant RFCs and security standards including WPA3, WPA2, AES encryption, 802.1X, RADIUS, and IPsec
• Management interfaces including SNMP, NETCONF, SSH, and web-based management
• Environmental specifications: operating temperature (0°C to 40°C), humidity (5% to 95%), altitude, and power requirements (90-264 VAC, PoE support)
• Physical dimensions, weight, mounting options, and power consumption details
• Regulatory compliance with safety, EMC, and radio standards applicable in South Africa and internationally

Skills and Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate the following skills and expertise:

• Proven experience in deploying enterprise wireless networks, including configuration of controllers and access points supporting Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 standards
• Technical proficiency in network security protocols such as WPA3, RADIUS, IPsec, and TLS
• Capability to integrate new hardware with existing network infrastructure and ensure seamless operation
• Knowledge of network management tools and protocols including SNMP, NETCONF, and web-based interfaces
• Ability to perform site surveys, system testing, and commissioning
• Experience in configuring VLANs, link aggregation, and security features like 802.1X and CAPWAP
• Understanding of environmental and power specifications to ensure hardware durability and efficiency
• Compliance with relevant safety, EMC, and radio frequency standards

Additionally, bidders must possess valid certifications and proof of experience in similar enterprise wireless deployments, and demonstrate capacity for ongoing maintenance and support.
