Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, install, and commission solar backup systems at NHLS St Appolinaris and NHLS Kokstad Laboratories. The project aims to enhance the laboratories' energy resilience through the provision of reliable solar backup solutions, ensuring continuous operation and supporting sustainable energy practices.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply of solar backup systems, including all necessary components such as isolators, surge protection, structures, clamps, nuts, bolts, and connectors.
• Installation of the solar backup systems on specified roofing structures (e.g., pitch steel roofs).
• Commissioning of the installed systems to ensure operational readiness.
• Site inspections, site examinations, and adherence to site-specific requirements.
• Guarantee, maintenance, and penalty provisions for the installed systems.
• Coordination with hospital and laboratory operations to minimize disruption during installation.
• Provision of all related electrical, plumbing, glazing, partitioning, and finishing works as specified.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Supply of 2-pole D.C. isolators and surge protection devices.
• Structural components suitable for installation on steel roofs.
• Solar panels compliant with manufacturer brochures, including safety and performance standards.
• 3-phase inverters and 5 kW lithium batteries with relevant brochures and certifications.
• Electrical wiring and components compliant with SANS10142 standards.
• Glass specifications: 4mm clear float glass for small panes, 6mm laminated safety glass for larger panes.
• Doors, windows, blinds, suspended ceilings, partitioning, and finishing materials as per detailed specifications.
• All materials must be SABS approved and meet relevant standards.
• Installation of plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, and associated accessories as specified.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• CIDB registration in at least Grade 2EB or higher, with proof of registration.
• Availability of skilled resources, including qualified electricians, plumbers, and technical specialists.
• Experience in installing solar backup systems and related electrical and civil works, with references for similar projects valued at R200,000 or above.
• Capability to manage site-specific challenges, including liaising with hospital management and adhering to safety and operational protocols.
• Provision of qualified project managers with relevant experience and certifications.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including submission of OHS declarations and safety plans.
