Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to undertake maintenance of gardens and grounds at Siphuthando, Northdale Hospital. The aim is to ensure the upkeep of the hospital's outdoor environment, including lawns, flower beds, trees, shrubs, paved areas, drains, and general landscaping, in accordance with specified standards and specifications.

Scope

The scope encompasses the provision of comprehensive garden and grounds maintenance services at Siphuthando/Stepdown Facility, including:

• Provision of skilled staff (e.g., gardeners, porters) for specified hours (e.g., Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 07h00 to 16h00)
• Use of machinery and equipment such as lawn mowers, brush cutters, rakes, watering cans, etc.
• Maintenance activities including mowing, trimming, weeding, watering, tree pruning, leaf removal, and waste disposal
• Provision of protective clothing and safety gear for staff
• Adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards
• Regular inspections and reporting to ensure service quality

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of trained, qualified, and adequately equipped personnel
• Use of approved machinery and chemicals (e.g., weed killer) compliant with ISO and health standards
• Adherence to specified working hours and safety protocols
• Implementation of a roll-out plan demonstrating capacity and experience
• Provision of a detailed service plan, including machinery maintenance schedules
• Compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and environmental standards
• Regular monitoring, inspection, and reporting mechanisms
• Proper handling and disposal of garden refuse and waste

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in grounds and garden maintenance, preferably in healthcare or similar institutional settings
• Qualified personnel with skills in horticulture, landscaping, and safety procedures
• Ability to operate and maintain gardening machinery and equipment
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including PPE and hazard management
• Capacity to develop and implement service delivery plans and schedules
• Effective communication and reporting skills
• Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including tax and insurance certifications
