Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure a maintenance service provider for air-conditioners, fridges, and freezers across the uMkhanyakude, Midlands, and iLembe business units for a period of 12 months. The service aims to ensure the proper functioning, regular maintenance, and timely repairs of these appliances to support the operational needs of the facilities.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of minor and major maintenance services for air-conditioners, including various BTU capacities.
• Maintenance of commercial fridges, including double door, single door, and cold rooms.
• Services of walk-in refrigeration units, with two services annually.
• Bi-annual servicing of commercial fridges.
• Repairs to cracks, mortar joints, painted wall surfaces, and other building finishes as specified.
• Installation and maintenance of plumbing fixtures such as sinks, geysers, toilets, and emergency showers.
• Electrical installations including wiring, socket outlets, lighting, and circuit breakers.
• Installation of doors, glazing, blinds, suspended ceilings, partitioning, and other interior finishes.
• Site-specific works including safety, risk management, and coordination with hospital operations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Compliance with all relevant standards, including SANS and ISO standards.
• Provision of qualified technicians and artisans with valid trade test certificates, licenses, and experience.
• Adherence to safety regulations, including the use of approved materials, proper installation practices, and safety signage.
• Completion of all work within specified timeframes, with penalties for delays.
• Provision of warranties and guarantees for work performed, with a maintenance period of 12 months post-installation.
• Proper documentation, including certificates of compliance, insurance, and adherence to health and safety legislation.
• Coordination with hospital management to minimize operational disruptions during maintenance activities.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• CIDB registration with a grading of 2ME or higher.
• Technical expertise in HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical installations.
• Experience in managing similar projects within healthcare or institutional environments.
• Qualified personnel, including certified technicians and project managers.
• Capacity to supply and manage necessary resources, including vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to produce relevant documentation such as CVs, licenses, past project references, and compliance certificates.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and ability to implement safety protocols on site.
