Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure major and minor HVAC services for Grey’s Hospital, specifically targeting ICU, Maternity, Administrative, and Oncology plantrooms. The services aim to ensure the proper functioning, maintenance, and servicing of air conditioning systems, including air handling units (AHUs), extractor fans, and associated components, to maintain optimal environmental conditions within the hospital.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Major and minor servicing of HVAC systems in designated plantrooms.
• Servicing air conditioning units, extractor fans, and outside air fans.
• Aligning fans and motors, adjusting belt tensions, cleaning coils, servicing controls, and cleaning plantrooms.
• Replacing V-belts, greasing bearings, and ensuring all equipment operates efficiently.
• Providing detailed reports on the service performed.
• Carrying out electrical and mechanical repairs as necessary, in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with CIDB Grading 1ME standards.
• Adherence to South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) codes of practice and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Provision of equipment servicing for air handling units, extractor fans, and associated HVAC components.
• Use of approved and specified materials, including replacement of belts and bearings.
• Preparation of safety plans and adherence to health and safety regulations.
• Provision of detailed reports and documentation of all maintenance activities.
• Availability of qualified technicians with relevant trade certificates (e.g., Fitter Trade Test).

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for bidders include:

• Registered CIDB grade 1ME or above.
• Certified technicians with relevant trade qualifications (e.g., Fitter Trade Test).
• Experience in HVAC servicing, maintenance, and electrical work.
• Knowledge of South African standards and safety regulations related to HVAC systems.
• Ability to prepare safety plans and conduct site inspections.
• Competence in reporting and documentation of maintenance activities.
