Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a major service for medical air compressors at Grey’s Hospital. The service aims to perform preventative maintenance, minimize breakdowns, and ensure the compressors operate efficiently and reliably according to manufacturer standards and guidelines.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Performing a comprehensive major service on medical air compressors, including checking service readings, oil levels, and cleaning air intake chambers.
• Changing compressor oil filters, air filters, and oil.
• Inspecting electrical components, air receivers, safety valves, condensate drains, and after coolers.
• Checking for leaks, line filters, pressure gauges, regulators, and line leaks, with repairs as necessary.
• Cleaning the plant room around the compressors and filling in logbooks.
• Submitting after-service reports.
• Servicing specific compressors at designated plant rooms, including Atlas Copco and Ingersoll Rand models, and servicing air receivers and line filters.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• The service must adhere to manufacturer standards and guidelines.
• Minimum activities include checking operational parameters, replacing filters and oils, inspecting electrical and safety components, and certifying air receivers.
• All faults, leaks, and issues must be identified, repaired, and documented.
• Service reports must be submitted post-completion.
• All work must be carried out on-site at Grey’s Hospital, with the existing premises occupied throughout the service period.
• Work must comply with relevant South African standards, electrical specifications, and occupational health and safety regulations.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Expertise in servicing medical air compressors, specifically Atlas Copco and Ingersoll Rand models.
• Experience in performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on compressed air systems.
• Knowledge of electrical components, safety valves, and leak detection.
• Ability to inspect, repair, and certify air receivers and associated equipment.
• Capability to document work performed and submit detailed after-service reports.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety standards and the ability to work within hospital premises without disruption.
