Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a major service to medical gas plants at Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital. The service aims to ensure the proper maintenance, servicing, repair, upgrading, and replacement of medical gas plants, including oxygen, nitrous oxide, vacuum, and air plants, to maintain their optimal functioning and compliance with standards.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Performing comprehensive maintenance, servicing, and repairs on medical gas plants (oxygen, nitrous oxide, vacuum, high and low-pressure air plants).
• Calibrating gauges, servicing auto transfer switches, transfer valves, pigtails, pressure gauges, and other components.
• Replacing lamps, fused panel lamps, leaking points, filters, relays, fuses, and other defective parts.
• Repairing leaks and faulty components across various plant sections.
• Conducting high-pressure testing on tanks and providing certification.
• Carrying out structural work, electrical, and mechanical upgrades as specified.
• Site clearance, waste management, and ensuring safety standards during execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All apparatus, components, fittings, and materials must be new, unused, and conform to latest standards, including SANS/SABS approvals.
• Work must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993 and relevant regulations.
• Service and calibration of gauges, auto transfer switches, valves, and other equipment must be performed as per manufacturer specifications.
• Leak repairs, leak testing, and high-pressure testing must be completed with certification provided.
• All electrical and mechanical work must adhere to applicable standards and codes.
• Proper site clearance, waste disposal, and safety protocols must be maintained.
• Work duration is approximately one week, with a guarantee period of three months for all materials and work.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires the contractor to possess:

• CIDB registration with grading 3EB or 3ME and above.
• Skilled and competent workmen experienced in medical gas plant maintenance and electrical/mechanical repairs.
• Qualified personnel capable of calibration, leak detection, high-pressure testing, and repairs on specialized medical gas equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and standards related to medical gas systems.
• Experience in structural, electrical, and mechanical works within healthcare facilities.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations during execution.
