Objectives

Technical Requirements

• Perform a major service on medical gases (oxygen, vacuum, medical air) and associated plant equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, including system pressure checks, safety valve settings, leak testing, and calibration of gauges.
• Replace or repair worn or damaged components as identified during inspections.
• Ensure all safety devices and system controls are functional and compliant with standards.
• Provide detailed maintenance reports, logs, and documentation of work performed.
• Supply and replace necessary spare parts as per specifications.
• Adhere to the manufacturer's specifications and relevant standards (e.g., SANAS/SABS).
• Follow the prescribed maintenance schedule and instructions outlined in the annexed specification forms.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified technicians with expertise in medical gas systems, including certification from recognized bodies such as SAQCC or equivalent.
• Experience in hospital maintenance, particularly with medical gas plant systems.
• Knowledge of safety standards, pressure systems, and calibration procedures.
• Ability to conduct system inspections, leak detection, and troubleshooting.
• Competence in documentation, reporting, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Capacity to supply and install spare parts and perform repairs as needed.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with hospital staff and technical teams.
