Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a major service for the oxygen plant room at Eshowe Hospital. This includes servicing the oxygen plant, oxygen points, vacuum points, and associated equipment to ensure they are maintained in safe, functional, and efficient condition. The service aims to uphold safety standards, ensure continuous operation, and extend the lifespan of critical hospital infrastructure.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Annual major servicing of the oxygen plant room, oxygen points, vacuum points, and related equipment at Eshowe Hospital.
• Servicing of specific equipment including oxygen plant rooms, LP air plant rooms, nitrous oxide points, HP gas, drug compression air, suction points, medical compressors, dryers, and dental compressors.
• Inspection, testing, commissioning, and certification of the equipment to ensure compliance with standards.
• Minor civil and masonry work related to repairs and making good after servicing.
• Provision of technical documentation, service schedules, and compliance certificates.
• Post-service reporting, preventative maintenance, and repair quotations if needed.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to SANS standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993.
• Use of new, unused, and compliant equipment and materials, with SABS or SANS approval where applicable.
• Completion of detailed service schedules during servicing, signed by technicians and maintenance managers.
• Servicing to be completed within two weeks of order receipt.
• Provision of a certificate of compliance upon completion, in accordance with SANS 1850:2014.
• Guarantee of workmanship and materials for a minimum of 12 months.
• Engagement of qualified, experienced personnel, including medical-certified staff, with proof of qualifications and practice certificates.
• Local employment of at least 90% unskilled labor within uMlazazi Local Municipality.
• Compliance with site safety, environmental, and operational protocols.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in servicing hospital oxygen and medical gas systems, with references of similar completed projects.
• Technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and civil aspects of hospital gas systems.
• Qualified technicians with relevant certifications and practice certificates.
• Capability to perform inspections, testing, and certification in accordance with national standards.
• Capacity to provide timely after-service repairs and technical support.
• Ability to prepare detailed execution and safety plans, including risk management and site coordination.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and hospital operational requirements.
