Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to obtain architectural drawings for minor works related to fencing at the Old Gaol and Knysna Library, including heritage application processes. The project aims to facilitate the design, approval, and heritage compliance for fencing works at the specified sites.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Design and production of computer-aided drawings for fencing at the Old Gaol (Queen and Main Streets) and Knysna Library (St Georges Street, adjacent to the activities wall).
• Design of fencing that matches existing structures, including a trellis at the library.
• Implementation of vandalism mitigation features such as cross-braced diagonal rails on all pales at the Old Gaol.
• Preparation and submission of heritage permits for both sites to Heritage Western Cape.
• Submission of building plans for approval and heritage compliance.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Preparation of detailed architectural drawings for fencing and trellis structures.
• Designs must adhere to relevant legislation and heritage standards.
• Fencing designs should incorporate vandalism mitigation features, such as diagonal rails with twist-resistant fasteners.
• Submission of heritage permit applications and obtaining approvals.
• Compliance with municipal and heritage authority specifications and regulations.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must possess:

• Proven experience in architectural design and drafting, particularly for heritage sites and fencing projects.
• Capability to produce computer-aided drawings (CAD) aligned with project specifications.
• Knowledge of heritage legislation and heritage permit application processes.
• Experience in designing vandalism-resistant fencing structures.
• Ability to coordinate with municipal authorities and heritage bodies for approvals.
• Qualified architects or draftsmen with relevant project experience and references.
