Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure installation services for the MOPD Pharmacy Air Conditioning system at Victoria Mxenge Hospital. The project aims to assess, repair, and replace existing air conditioning units, ensuring they meet current standards and regulations, with proper electrical and mechanical work, and to provide comprehensive documentation and manuals for ongoing maintenance.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Assessing and providing full Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for repairing existing air conditioners to full functionality.
• Replacing the entire unit with a new 36,000 BTU wall-mounted air conditioner, including all fittings, pipes, and electrical requirements.
• Installing a wall-mounted controller (battery type not permitted).
• Electrical and mechanical work to be checked and signed off by respective foremen.
• Handing over a dedicated service manual to the chief artisan.
• Ensuring water drainage complies with latest building regulations.
• Attending site briefing and providing detailed work plans and safety documentation.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Compliance with SABS standards and SARACCA regulations for refrigeration and electrical work.
• Use of qualified refrigeration artisans registered on SARACCA.
• Proper recovery and handling of refrigerant gases with certified systems.
• Installation of a 36,000 BTU unit with all necessary fittings, pipes, and electrical connections.
• Adherence to safety standards, including occupational health and safety regulations, safety file management, and site safety plans.
• Provision of detailed work plans, daily job sheets, and safety documentation prior to commencement.
• Completion of all electrical and mechanical checks with sign-offs by respective foremen.

Skills Requirements

Applicants must possess:

• Qualified refrigeration artisans registered with SARACCA, with proof of registration.
• Experience in installing and repairing HVAC systems, specifically wall-mounted air conditioners of similar capacity.
• Competence in handling refrigerant gases safely and in accordance with environmental regulations.
• Knowledge of South African standards (SABS) and occupational health and safety legislation.
• Ability to prepare and implement comprehensive health and safety plans, including risk assessments and safety files.
• Capability to provide detailed work plans, daily job sheets, and manuals as per project requirements.
• Proficiency in electrical and mechanical sign-offs, ensuring compliance with technical standards.
