Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a Panel of Vendors capable of supplying and installing alarm systems across all four UJ campuses and off-campus properties, with a contractual period of 36 months. The aim is to streamline procurement, ensure quality and compliance, and foster competitive supplier engagement for security infrastructure needs.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, installation, and commissioning of alarm systems, including hardware (alarm units, passives, hubs, door contacts, keypads), cabling, and related accessories, as detailed in the specifications and pricing schedules. It also covers ongoing support, maintenance, and technical services as specified in the contractual documents. The scope extends to off-campus properties and requires adherence to technical, safety, and environmental standards.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of Ajax alarm hardware including alarm units, passives, hubs, door contacts, keypads, and cabling.
• Installation and commissioning of alarm systems across all campuses and off-campus sites.
• Compliance with UJ’s technical specifications, industry standards, and applicable legislation (e.g., OHSA, environmental laws).
• Provision of technical documentation, manuals, and support for hardware and software components.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental protocols, including hazardous materials handling and risk assessments.
• Provision of support and maintenance services, including troubleshooting, repairs, and spare parts supply, with specified response times.
• Quality assurance through testing, inspection, and certification processes prior to acceptance.
• Compliance with UJ’s procurement policies, B-BBEE requirements, and confidentiality obligations.

Skills and Skills Requirements

• Technical expertise in security alarm systems installation, configuration, and maintenance.
• Experience with Ajax alarm hardware and related security technology.
• Qualified personnel including project managers, technicians, and support staff with relevant certifications and experience.
• Knowledge of applicable safety, health, and environmental legislation (e.g., OHSA, POPIA).
• Ability to develop and implement technical documentation, testing plans, and quality control procedures.
• Proficiency in project management, scheduling, and coordination across multiple sites.
• Compliance with UJ’s policies, including confidentiality, BBBEE, and procurement standards.
• Effective communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
