Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a 36-month contract for particle count testing of operating theatres at Murchison Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal. The testing aims to ensure compliance with ISO 14644-1 standards for clean-room classification, specifically targeting ISO Class 8, and to validate the air quality and filtration systems in the operating theatres over the contract period.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply, delivery, installation, and connection of particle counting equipment.
• Conducting particle count tests at six-month intervals, totaling six tests over 36 months (2 per year).
• Preparation of test reports and certificates for both theatres A and B.
• Validation of airflow and filtration systems to ensure compliance with ISO standards.
• Adherence to all relevant regulations, standards, and departmental specifications.
• Provision of all necessary materials, tools, calibration certificates, and test equipment.
• Ensuring safety and health regulations are met throughout the testing and installation process.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Particle count testing according to ISO 14644-1 standards for ISO Class 8 environments.
• Testing to be performed at specified intervals (every six months).
• Use of approved, calibrated test equipment with valid calibration certificates.
• Preparation of detailed reports including test results, graphical data, and compliance certificates.
• Validation of airflow and filtration systems to meet ISO 14644-1 and other relevant standards.
• Compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Proper documentation and certification to be displayed at the operating theatre entrance.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Technical expertise in particle counting and clean-room validation, specifically ISO 14644-1 standards.
• Experience in conducting environmental testing in healthcare or similar sterile environments.
• Capability to calibrate and operate particle counting equipment and air flow measurement devices.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and certificates confirming compliance.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to hospital environments and construction/maintenance activities.
• Qualified personnel with relevant certifications and proven track record in environmental testing and validation.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety standards, including proper safety documentation and procedures.
