Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to deliver porter services at Northdale Hospital for a contract period of three (3) months. The services aim to facilitate transportation of patients, medical equipment, documents, and other related tasks within the hospital environment, ensuring efficient hospital operations and patient care.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of 12 staff members for day shifts (06:00 to 18:00) and 6 staff members for night shifts (18:00 to 06:00), including supervisors.
• Staff to perform duties such as transporting patients in wheelchairs and stretchers, moving specimens, escorting patients, handling medical equipment, and managing hospital documents.
• Staff to wear uniforms and badges, maintain courteous conduct, and adhere to hospital standards.
• Weekly site visits by the senior representative of the service provider.
• Replacement of staff during leaves and emergencies.
• Compliance with hospital policies, occupational health and safety regulations, and community employment priorities.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Provision of 18 porters plus supervisors, with duties including patient transport, specimen handling, equipment movement, and documentation management.
• Staff must be neatly dressed in full uniforms with badges, courteous, and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Staff wages must meet or exceed Department of Labour hospitality sector rates; quotes below minimum wages will be disqualified.
• Provision of uniforms, PPEs, and adherence to safety standards.
• Staff must be registered with UIF and Workman's Compensation Commission, with proof submitted with the bid.
• Liability insurance coverage for theft, loss, or damage caused by staff.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and hospital-specific specifications.
• Site visits and regular supervision to ensure service quality.

Skills Requirements

• Experience in hospital porter or similar service roles.
• Knowledge of hospital safety protocols and patient confidentiality.
• Ability to operate hospital equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, and medical transport devices.
• Good communication and courteous interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in shifts, including weekends and night duties.
• Capacity to respond promptly to emergency situations and provide reliable service.
