Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to hire a certified 60-ton weighbridge for a period of twelve (12) months to support the operations at the Ngqura Container Terminal. The weighbridge is intended to verify cargo weights, particularly for twin-lift containerised cargo, ensuring compliance with safety and port regulations, and to enhance operational efficiency.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of one (1) portable, ground-mounted steel deck weighbridge with a capacity of 60,000 kg (60 tons), dimensions 12 x 3 meters.
• Installation, calibration, and testing of the weighbridge in accordance with relevant standards (SANS 1649, Legal Metrology Act No. 9 of 2014, and Regulations 2018).
• Provision of maintenance, repairs, and breakdown callouts during the contract period.
• Design of weighing tickets to meet TPT requirements.
• Provision of qualified artisans with at least three years of experience, along with relevant certifications and CVs.
• Submission of necessary security and SHEQ documentation prior to commencement.
• Handover of the weighbridge on TPT ground and compliance with safety and environmental conditions.

Skills Requirements

The service provider must demonstrate:

• Accreditation in accordance with SANS 10378, with certification attached
• Experience in leasing and operating weighbridge equipment
• Qualified artisans (Millwright, Electrician, or Fitter) with at least three years of relevant experience, supported by CVs and qualifications
• Provision of maintenance records, calibration certificates, and verification reports for the past six months
• Ability to design and produce weighing tickets per TPT specifications
• Compliance with all SHEQ and security requirements, including submission of SHE files, risk assessments, and security documentation prior to work commencement
