Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to convert a decommissioned bus into a functional auxiliary structure at the Eldorado Park Depot. This initiative aims to address infrastructure challenges by providing temporary office space and facilities for staff, thereby improving operational efficiency, safety, and staff wellbeing.

Scope

The scope includes the comprehensive conversion of an old double-decker bus into an auxiliary structure with designated areas such as control rooms, staff lounges, security stations, and utility spaces. Specific tasks involve:

• Removing old seats, panels, insulation, flooring, and non-essential parts.
• Applying vinyl wraps or decals for design.
• Installing safety, accessibility, and final compliance features.
• Creating layout plans and visuals for interior design.
• Implementing plumbing, drainage, and electrical systems in accordance with South African standards.
• Insulating walls for thermal regulation, soundproofing, and fire safety.
• Furnishing interior spaces with ergonomic furniture, lighting, and fixtures.
• Ensuring safety, accessibility, and final certification of the converted structure.

The project also encompasses handover procedures, documentation, training, and optional add-ons to support ongoing maintenance and operation.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the conversion include:

• Design and Layout: Clear space requirements for control rooms, staff lounges, security stations, and utility areas with specified furniture and equipment.
• Construction and Materials: Use of fire-retardant panels, non-slip flooring, modular furniture, and durable finishes aligned with industrial-minimalist aesthetics.
• Insulation and Fire Safety: Installation of fire-retardant insulation materials meeting SANS 10177 standards, with flame spread ratings of Class 1.
• Plumbing and Drainage: Connection to municipal water and sewer systems, installation of PVC drainpipes, inspection chambers, and vent pipes extending above roof level.
• Electrical and Lighting: Recessed LED lighting, task lamps, motion sensors, and energy-efficient appliances such as fridges and microwaves.
• Safety and Accessibility: Compliance with South African National Building Regulations (SANS 10400), including accessible entry points, safety installations, and certification upon completion.
• Interior Design: Use of neutral color palettes with branding accents, modular ergonomic furniture, and efficient layout to maximize space utility.
• Insulation and Fire Safety: Use of high-quality, fire-retardant insulation materials with proper installation to ensure thermal regulation, soundproofing, and fire safety.

All work must adhere to relevant standards, including SANS 10177 for fire safety and SATS 1286:2011 for local content requirements. The project requires thorough documentation, final inspection, and certification to ensure compliance and safety.
