Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure gardening and grounds maintenance services at GJGM Regional Hospital for a period of twelve (12) months. The service aims to ensure the hospital grounds are well-maintained, safe, and aesthetically pleasing, in accordance with specified standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Maintenance of all garden areas within the hospital and two external properties.
• Mowing of grasses and nature strips.
• Removal of rubbish and debris from all areas.
• Sweeping/blowing pathways, gutters, and driveways.
• Trimming and pruning of trees and shrubs, including overhanging branches.
• Removal and replacement of fallen or dead trees/shrubs/plants.
• Weed removal and weed control across all areas.
• Submission of Job Safety Analyses and Material Safety Data Sheets.
• Weekly removal of garden refuse from the site.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All grassed areas must be cleared of obstacles before mowing.
• Grass should be cut to a height of approximately 50-70mm, not exceeding 150mm.
• Edges around pathways, fences, and garden beds must be trimmed and leveled.
• Herbicide spraying may be used with care to control weeds without damaging trees or shrubs.
• Pathways, gutters, and ground surfaces must be cleaned after mowing.
• Tree branches should be trimmed to provide at least 4 meters clearance.
• All garden refuse and debris must be removed and disposed of properly.
• Mulched areas should be maintained at a level of 50-75mm, with regular turning and biannual top-ups.
• All work must adhere to safety standards, including submission of safety analysis sheets.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires service providers to have:

• Qualified personnel experienced in garden maintenance, pruning, and tree work.
• Knowledge of herbicide application and environmental safety standards.
• Capability to operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment such as brush cutters, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and other specified tools.
• Ability to implement safety procedures, including PPE usage and compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
• Experience in waste management and proper disposal of garden refuse.
• Capacity to provide ongoing site inspections, reporting, and adherence to municipal bylaws and environmental standards.
