Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure load testing services for twistlocks and hooks at Transnet SOC Ltd, specifically at the Durban Container Terminal Pier 1, on a one-time basis. The aim is to ensure the safety, compliance, and operational integrity of lifting equipment used in cargo handling operations.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Provision of load testing for twistlocks and hooks.
• Services to be delivered at the Durban Container Terminal Pier 1.
• One-off service for the specified equipment within the defined period.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• Respondents must have valid Load Monitoring Equipment (LMI) or Load Testing Inspection (LTI) certificates with 1-2 years of experience, or relevant experience on lifting tackle such as twistlocks, hooks, chain assemblies, and shackles within the past 5 years.
• Third-party certificates are not eligible; only valid LMI or LTI certificates are acceptable.
• Respondents must demonstrate capability to perform load testing in accordance with applicable standards and specifications.
• All testing work must be compliant with the scope of work outlined in Annexure A.

Skills and Competency Requirements

The skills and competency criteria include:

• Provision of valid load testing certificates with relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in load testing of lifting equipment, specifically twistlocks, hooks, and related hardware.
• Ability to provide references for similar work completed within the last 5 years.
• Compliance with legal, safety, and security clearance requirements, including obtaining necessary security clearances if applicable.
• Understanding of and compliance with Transnet’s procurement, legal, and safety standards.
