Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a suitably accredited service provider to deliver a Pump Operator Training program. The training aims to ensure participants are proficient in the safe and efficient operation of fire pumps, hydraulic principles, deployment of streams, vehicle safety, and troubleshooting, aligned with standards such as NFPA 1002 and local regulations.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of a 2-day accredited training course for 33 firefighters.
• Training delivery in English and Afrikaans, utilizing face-to-face facilitation, practical on-site exercises, and role plays.
• Provision of necessary equipment including pumps, hoses, nozzles, and firefighting gear.
• Certification of delegates upon successful completion, with accreditation from SETA.
• Adherence to relevant standards and local regulations.
• Provision of training materials, stationery, catering, and other related costs within the unit rate.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that the training program must:

• Be based on accredited standards such as NFPA 1002 for driver and operator pumper.
• Include practical exercises with suitable firefighting equipment.
• Be delivered over two days in a classroom and on-site practical environment.
• Be conducted in English and Afrikaans.
• Be delivered by qualified trainers with appropriate certification and accreditation (SETA certification required).
• Include the provision of a comprehensive training manual and certification for delegates.
• Ensure the provider has the necessary equipment, including pumps, hoses, nozzles, and firefighting gear.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider must demonstrate:

• Accreditation and certification from SETA for the training program.
• Experience in delivering fire and rescue training, specifically pump operation.
• Qualified trainers with relevant technical expertise and certification.
• Ability to provide practical, competency-based training with appropriate firefighting equipment.
• Capacity to deliver training in both English and Afrikaans.
• Provision of all necessary training materials, equipment, and facilities.
• Experience in working with municipal fire services or similar organizations.
