Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a suitably accredited service provider to deliver a Pump Operator Training program. The course aims to equip learners with the skills necessary for the safe and efficient operation of fire pumps, including starting, priming, pressure control, troubleshooting, hydraulic principles, deployment of streams, pumping from various supply lines, and vehicle safety during operations.

Scope

The scope encompasses the delivery of a comprehensive Pump Operator Training course to 33 firefighters over a 2-day period. The training must be conducted in English and Afrikaans, utilizing face-to-face facilitation, practical on-site exercises, role plays, and demonstrations. The provider must have the necessary equipment, including pumps, hoses, nozzles, and firefighting gear. Certification of delegates and accreditation from SETA are mandatory, along with adherence to relevant standards such as NFPA 1002 and local regulations.

Technical Requirements

• The training program must be accredited and include a valid SETA certificate.
• The course content should cover safe pump operation, hydraulic principles, pressure management, deployment techniques, and vehicle safety.
• Training must be delivered over 2 days in English and Afrikaans.
• The provider must supply all relevant firefighting equipment, including pumps, hoses, nozzles, and safety gear.
• Participants' competency must be assessed and certified.
• Pricing should be based on a unit rate per trainee, inclusive of all costs (training materials, stationery, catering, VAT).
• The successful bidder must sign a Service Level Agreement with the Municipality.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in delivering fire safety and pump operation training.
• Accreditation from SETA or equivalent authority.
• Ability to provide practical, on-site training with appropriate firefighting equipment.
• Competency in training delivery in both English and Afrikaans.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards and local fire safety regulations.
• Capability to assess and certify delegates' competency.
• Strong organizational and facilitation skills to ensure effective training delivery.
