Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the repairs and maintenance of Thokozani Creche in Ward 1. The aim is to ensure the creche's facilities are renovated and maintained to meet safety, structural, and operational standards, in accordance with the specifications provided.

Scope

The scope of work includes all necessary resources—labour, materials, and equipment—to carry out the renovation and maintenance activities as detailed in the scope of works. Key activities involve:

• Roof covering repairs and ceiling replacement
• Wall cleaning, crack filling, and painting
• Supply and replacement of doors and windows
• Concrete work for apron slabs
• Gutter installation and fittings
• Electrical fault investigation and connections
• Carpentry repairs
• Mounting a chalkboard, supplying a water tank, refurbishing existing structures, and erecting signage
• Replacing toilet seats

All materials must comply strictly with SABS standards, and quantities are approximate, requiring precise measurement by the contractor.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All work must adhere to safety legislation and standards.
• Materials used must meet SABS standards.
• Roof repairs involve patching corrugated iron, priming, and weather guard painting.
• Walls should be cleaned, cracks filled, primed, and painted with weather guard paint.
• Doors and windows must be supplied and installed with appropriate locks and guards, with window frames thoroughly cleaned and painted.
• Concrete work must meet 20 Mpa specifications.
• Electrical investigations should identify faults and rectify loose connections.
• Additional works include mounting fixtures, supplying tanks, refurbishing structures, and erecting signage.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider must possess the following skills and competencies:

• Experience in roofing, carpentry, electrical repairs, and painting
• Ability to accurately measure and estimate quantities and costs
• Knowledge of safety legislation and standards applicable to construction and maintenance work
• Capability to coordinate multiple trades and activities simultaneously
