Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to replace the faulty VRV heating condenser at the Care Centre, hire a cable thumping machine, trace the blown cable, supply cable joint kits and hardware, and repair the blown LV cable at Agronomy. The project aims to ensure the proper functioning of HVAC systems and electrical infrastructure at the specified sites.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Replacing the faulty VRV heating condenser at the Care Centre.
• Hiring and operating a cable thumping machine to trace damaged cables.
• Supplying cable joint kits and necessary hardware.
• Repairing blown LV cables, including trenching, cable jointing, and testing.
• Installing high mast steel street light poles with floodlights.
• Laying and connecting LV cables inside trenches.
• Conducting electrical tests, phase rotation checks, and commissioning.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Replacement of VRV outdoor units with multi-split VRV type air conditioners up to 24kW, including major servicing, fault diagnosis, and parts replacement (PC boards, copper pipes, gas refilling).
• Installation of high mast steel street light poles with 4 x 300W IP66 floodlights at 10m height.
• Supply and installation of 140m of 2.5mm² ECC LV cable, terminated and connected to MCBs and CDU boxes.
• Excavation, trenching, and backfilling for cable laying.
• Trace and repair of damaged LV cables using VLF testing and cable thumping.
• Jointing of armoured LV cables with Scotch cast joint kits and crimping ferrules.
• Replacement of ceiling boards, security lights, wall-mounted security lights, and switches as specified.
• Compliance with SABS specifications and delivery within stipulated timeframes.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Technical expertise in HVAC system servicing, including VRV systems and PCB replacements.
• Electrical skills in cable tracing, testing, jointing, and commissioning, including use of VLF testers and cable thumpers.
• Experience in installing street lighting infrastructure and electrical connections.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and ensure compliance with SABS standards.
• Capacity to undertake trenching, excavation, and backfilling activities safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to electrical and construction work.
