Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure laundry services for the Durban ICC, including collection, washing, ironing, and delivery of laundry items to meet the facility's operational demands. The service aims to ensure timely turnaround within 24 hours, maintain quality standards, and comply with relevant regulations and certifications.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Utilizing a control sheet for tracking all uplifted laundry items.
• Washing items subjected to dirt, grime, oil, and food stains at the service provider’s premises using SABS approved chemicals endorsed for the catering industry.
• Ironing, hanging on individual hangers, and covering with plastic before delivery.
• Conducting quality control inspections to prevent damages.
• Delivering laundry to the ICC premises within 24 hours of collection, Monday to Friday.
• Ensuring adequate equipment and staffing to meet the turnaround time, especially during peak periods with approximately 600+ items per batch.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with mandatory industry certifications, including proof of valid certificates in the cleaning and dyeing industry.
• Provision of at least two detailed client references for laundry services in the hospitality and catering industry.
• Adherence to the Durban ICC’s terms and conditions, including compliance with the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act.
• Proper recording and tracking of all laundry uplifted and returned.
• Use of SABS approved chemicals suitable for food safety standards.
• Delivery within specified timeframes with proper quality control measures.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The service provider must possess:

• Experience in providing laundry services to the hospitality and catering sectors.
• Capability to handle large volumes of laundry items efficiently, especially during peak periods.
• Qualified staff with expertise in laundry operations, quality control, and handling of sensitive or contaminated items.
• Proper equipment and facilities that meet industry standards and certification requirements.
• Ability to comply with legal and regulatory standards, including ISO certifications and POPI Act regulations.
• Proficiency in record-keeping, tracking, and reporting laundry services.
