Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure laundry services for the Durban ICC, including collection, washing, ironing, and delivery of laundry items to meet the operational demands of the facility. The service aims to ensure timely turnaround within 24 hours, maintain quality standards, and comply with relevant regulations and certifications.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Collection of laundry items from Durban ICC.
• Washing and dyeing of laundry using SABS approved chemicals endorsed for the catering industry.
• Ironing, hanging on individual hangers, and covering with plastic.
• Delivery of cleaned laundry back to Durban ICC within 24 hours of collection, Monday to Friday.
• Proper recording and tracking of uplifted laundry using control sheets.
• Quality control inspections to prevent damages.
• Handling peak periods with batches of approximately 300+ to 600+ items.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Provision of laundry services at the service provider’s premises.
• Use of SABS approved chemicals suitable for the catering industry to prevent cross-contamination.
• Proper ironing, packaging, and covering of laundry items.
• Delivery within 24 hours post-collection, with a reconciliation process to ensure no discrepancies.
• Availability of adequate equipment and staffing to meet the turnaround time.
• Adherence to quality control procedures to avoid damages.

Skills and Experience Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

• Valid certification in the Cleaning and Dyeing Industry, with proof of certification.
• Experience in providing laundry services for the hospitality and catering industry, supported by at least two detailed client references.
• Compliance with all mandatory requirements outlined in the RFQ.
• Capacity to handle large batches during peak periods efficiently.
• Ability to meet the 24-hour turnaround time consistently.
• Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, including POPI Act compliance.
