Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to relocate a 65 KVA standby generator from PSJ SAPS to Don Thompson (Fortgale) in Mthatha, ensuring safe disconnection, transportation, and placement of the generator without electrical installation at the destination.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Site inspection at both locations
• Electrical and mechanical disconnection of the generator (if applicable)
• Provision of suitable lifting equipment and rigging
• Safe lifting, loading, transportation, and offloading of the generator
• Placement of the generator at the designated site in a stable and protected condition
• Compliance with health, safety, and transport regulations
• Provision of necessary equipment such as cranes, flatbed trucks, lifting slings, and tie-down straps
• Completion within specified timeframes and proper site cleanup

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of certified lifting and rigging equipment with minimum capacity of 2–3 tons
• Transport vehicle capable of secure transit of the generator
• Proper securing and protection of the generator during transit
• Adherence to all relevant road safety and transport regulations
• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and related safety standards
• Provision of a detailed work plan, including site assessments, lifting procedures, and safety measures
• Verification of route conditions and distance prior to execution
• No electrical or operational installation at the destination is required

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Experience in handling and transporting heavy generators or similar equipment
• Qualified personnel for lifting, rigging, and transportation activities
• Competence in site safety management and risk assessment
• Ability to execute the project within the specified timeframe and budget
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and transport laws
• Capability to prepare and submit detailed work plans and safety documentation
