Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to facilitate the removal and installation of nine (09) units of 12,000 BTU air-conditioners at Nseleni Community Health Centre and associated sites, ensuring proper supply, installation, and functionality of the units. The project aims to upgrade or replace existing air-conditioning systems to maintain optimal environmental conditions within the healthcare facilities.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Removal of existing indoor and outdoor 12,000 BTU air conditioners.
• Preparation of mounting bases for outdoor units.
• Supply and installation of new split-unit 12,000 BTU air conditioners, including all necessary fittings and connections.
• Connecting and welding copper gas pipes.
• Ensuring the installed units are fully functional and operational.
• Additional work at Sappi Clinic involving removal, preparation, and re-installation of units with remote controls and electrical connections.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications mandate:

• Use of proprietary materials of specified brands or approved equivalents.
• Verification and approval of materials on-site by the hospital maintenance supervisor.
• Compliance with South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) testing requirements for materials.
• Provision of a minimum CIDB grade 1 ME or above contractor.
• Provision of proof of qualified personnel (Electrical or Refrigeration trade test).
• Warranty period of 12 months from final delivery, with the contractor responsible for repairs during this period.
• Adherence to safety, environmental, and health regulations, including site safety plans and compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in HVAC installation, specifically split-unit air conditioners.
• Qualified personnel with valid trade tests in electrical or refrigeration work.
• Ability to verify and approve proprietary materials and ensure compliance with standards.
• Capability to weld copper pipes and connect electrical wiring safely and effectively.
• Capacity to manage site safety and environmental considerations during installation.
• Provision of proof of CIDB registration and relevant project experience.
