Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out renovations at the NHLS Leratong Casualty Unit, ensuring the upgraded facilities meet specified standards and operational requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes a comprehensive range of renovation activities such as:

• Structural modifications and alterations
• Crack repairs and mortar joint repairs
• Surface preparation and painting of walls, ceilings, and metal surfaces
• Tiling, carpeting, and glazing of floors and walls
• Installation of doors, windows, blinds, suspended ceilings, and partitions
• Plumbing and drainage work, including sinks, toilets, urinals, and associated fixtures
• Electrical installations, including wiring, lighting, power points, and air conditioning
• Specialist works such as emergency showers, hydroboil units, and safety equipment
• Finishing works, including painting, carpentry, and joinery

The work must be coordinated to ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations, with phased execution and adherence to safety and operational protocols.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Compliance with the General Conditions of Contract (GCC) and relevant standards (SABS, ISO, SANS)
• Use of approved materials, including tiles, paints, glass, and fixtures
• Installation of specified equipment such as air conditioners (LG, Carrier, York, Samsung, Daikin), emergency showers, and hydroboil units
• Electrical work to be performed by registered electricians, with adherence to SANS10142 and safety standards
• Plumbing work by qualified plumbers, with proper installation of fixtures and water supply systems
• Surface preparation and finishing as per manufacturer specifications to ensure durability and quality
• Provision for safety, health, and environmental considerations throughout the project

Skills Requirements

The bidder must demonstrate:

• CIDB registration in at least grade 1GB or higher
• Experience in hospital or similar healthcare facility renovations
• Availability of skilled personnel, including project managers, artisans, plumbers, electricians, and refrigeration technicians
• Capability to manage complex projects with minimal operational disruption
• Provision of relevant qualifications, trade certificates, and CVs for key personnel
• Ability to supply references for at least three completed projects of similar scope and value within the last five years
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including submission of OHS declarations and safety plans
