Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out renovations at the NHLS Wentworth Laboratory, ensuring the facility is upgraded to meet operational standards. The project aims to deliver a fully functional, compliant, and operational laboratory environment with specified quality and safety standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Site inspection and assessment of existing conditions.
• Construction and installation of new worktops, cupboards, and benches with specified materials such as flexible PVC and stainless steel.
• Renovation of flooring, wall finishes, and tiling using approved materials.
• Installation of internal and external glazing, including safety glass and tinted windows.
• Partitioning using drywall systems with fire and sound ratings.
• Painting, coating, and finishing of walls, ceilings, and joinery.
• Electrical installations including wiring, outlets, and specialized equipment connections.
• Plumbing works, including sinks, toilets, geysers, and associated fixtures.
• Installation of doors, hardware, and associated accessories.
• Provision for safety, scaffolding, and site management during construction.
• Completion, practical, and final inspections, including defect rectification.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Compliance with the General Conditions of Contract (GCC) 2015, and relevant standards such as SANS10142, SABS standards, and ISO standards.
• Use of approved materials, including SABS and SANS certified products.
• Installation of safety glass, tinted windows, and fire-rated drywall partitions.
• Electrical wiring and components to meet SANS10142 and be certified upon completion.
• Plumbing fixtures to be installed by registered plumbers, with specified sizes and standards.
• Adherence to site safety, working hours, and operational considerations of the hospital environment.
• Provision of warranties, maintenance, and defect liability periods.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• CIDB registration in at least Grade 2GB or higher, with proven experience in similar projects.
• Competence in construction, electrical, plumbing, and finishing works, with qualified and registered personnel.
• Ability to manage site safety, coordinate with hospital operations, and adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Experience in working within operational hospital environments, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Capability to provide warranties, defect rectification, and maintenance services post-completion.
• Provision of relevant project references, completion certificates, and proof of previous similar work.
