Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out renovations to the third floor of the Jack Mentz Building, including comprehensive refurbishment, electrical and plumbing upgrades, installation of fixtures, and finishing works to meet operational and safety standards as specified by NHLS.

Scope

The scope encompasses a wide range of renovation activities including:

• Removal of existing carpets, fixtures, and fittings
• Preparation and painting of windows, walls, and ceilings
• Replacement of windows, window latches, and window frames
• Installation of new flooring (laminated, porcelain tiles, vinyl)
• Construction of dry wall partitions and support frames
• Electrical installations including wiring, distribution boards, circuit breakers, and lighting
• Plumbing installations including geysers, sinks, toilets, urinals, and associated fixtures
• Installation of fire safety equipment such as extinguishers
• Fabrication and installation of cabinetry, lockers, and signage
• Internal glazing, blinds, suspended ceilings, and partitioning
• External and internal door and window fittings
• Final finishes, painting, and flooring

Technical Requirements

The project must adhere to the following technical standards:

• Compliance with the National Building Regulations, SANS standards, and NHLS specifications
• Use of SABS approved materials and fixtures
• Electrical work to comply with SANS10142 and be certified upon completion
• Plumbing work to meet health and safety standards, with certified plumbers
• Installation of fire safety equipment in accordance with relevant standards
• Construction of partitions and ceilings using approved drywall systems
• Flooring to meet slip resistance and durability requirements
• All work to be executed with minimal disruption to ongoing hospital operations
• Provision of Certificates of Compliance for electrical and plumbing installations

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Registration with the CIDB at grade 2GB or higher
• Relevant experience in hospital or similar refurbishment projects
• Qualified and licensed electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople
• Capability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate complex activities
• Proven track record of delivering projects within scope, time, and budget constraints
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including submission of OHS Act declarations
• Ability to provide project management, supervision, and quality assurance throughout the project duration
