Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the repair and maintenance of low voltage electrical installations at various institutions under the Department of Public Works (DPW), including SAPS stations, training centres, and other government facilities, for a period of 6 months.

Scope

The scope encompasses comprehensive electrical maintenance services, including:

• Servicing and repair of existing low voltage electrical systems and substations.
• Replacement of faulty or obsolete electrical components, cables, and accessories.
• Installation of new electrical fittings, lighting, and related equipment where necessary.
• Trenching, cable laying, and jointing for electrical wiring upgrades or replacements.
• Provision of emergency and scheduled repairs, including fault diagnosis and rectification.
• Preparation of operating and maintenance documentation for installed systems.
• Removal and disposal of redundant materials and waste.

The services are to be delivered at multiple specified sites, including SAPS stations, government departments, and training centres across various locations.

Technical Requirements

• Adherence to relevant SANS standards and wiring regulations.
• Provision of qualified electrical personnel with appropriate trade certificates and experience.
• Use of genuine, high-quality replacement parts and materials of equal or better specifications.
• Implementation of safety protocols in line with Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Completion of job cards and detailed reports for each repair or maintenance activity.
• Timely response to emergency calls within 4 hours and scheduled repairs within 48 hours.
• Compliance with security clearance and confidentiality requirements.
• Proper documentation, including operating manuals, drawings, and safety notices.

Skills and Competency Requirements

• Registered electrical contractors with CIDB grading of at least 1 EP or higher.
• Demonstrable experience in low voltage electrical systems maintenance, preferably in government or institutional settings.
• Qualified electricians with valid trade certificates and relevant safety training.
• Ability to prepare and submit comprehensive technical and safety documentation.
• Proven track record in timely and quality service delivery, including fault diagnosis and repair.
• Capacity to manage multiple sites and coordinate scheduled and emergency works effectively.
• Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, and best practices in electrical maintenance.
• Effective communication skills for reporting, documentation, and coordination with DPW officials.
