Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a service provider to repair the damaged perimeter fence along the Nurses residence, adjacent to the mortuary office and hilltop building at St Apollinaris Hospital. The work aims to restore the integrity of the fence to ensure security and safety at the hospital premises.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Removal of the old damaged fence and associated components.
• Repair and replacement of damaged fence sections, poles, razor wire, barbed wire, and straining wires.
• Earthworks such as excavation and backfilling for fence posts and poles at specified locations (Nurses residence, mortuary office, hilltop building).
• Construction of reinforced concrete foundations and bases for fence poles and posts.
• Supply and installation of precast concrete posts and structural steel work for fencing and gates.
• Installation of welded wire mesh fencing, razor wire, barbed wire, and associated steel components along specified sections.
• Site clearance, safety measures, and ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations during execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Compliance with South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) / SANS / CKS standards for materials and workmanship.
• Use of galvanized steel components, welded wire mesh, and approved fencing materials.
• Proper installation of fencing components, including posts, stays, and razor/barbed wire, with appropriate spacing and secure fixing.
• Concrete work to meet specified mix and curing requirements, ensuring structural stability.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations, including preparation of a health and safety plan and risk assessments.
• Site visit and inspection prior to commencement, with compulsory attendance at the site briefing session.
• Guarantee period of at least three (3) calendar months for completed work and materials.

Skills and Experience Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• CIDB grade 1SQ or above certification for fencing and construction works.
• Relevant experience in fencing installation, repairs, and earthworks, supported by verifiable references and completion certificates.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards, with submission of a site-specific health and safety file.
• Qualified personnel with appropriate construction and fencing industry skills, supported by relevant certificates or construction skills certification.
• Financial capacity to undertake the project, evidenced by proof of available capital or credit facilities.
