Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a service provider to repair and regas air-conditioning units at St Apollinaris Hospital, ensuring that critical departments such as Pharmacy are maintained at appropriate temperatures. The project aims to restore and maintain the functionality of various air conditioning systems across multiple hospital rooms and facilities, with an emphasis on quality, compliance, and minimal disruption to hospital operations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Repair and regassing of air conditioning units across designated hospital rooms and facilities.
• Replacement of compressors, fan motors, isolators, PC boards, and other relevant components as specified.
• Electrical work related to the installation and repair of air conditioning systems, including electrical connections, re-gassing, and testing.
• Provision of all materials, labor, and tools necessary for the completion of the repairs.
• Ensuring installations are compliant with relevant standards and regulations, including electrical safety and health standards.
• Guarantee of a minimum of six months on repairs and components.
• Completion within a specified contract period of six weeks from site handover.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Repair, regas, and testing of various air conditioning units (e.g., LG, Alliance, Jet Air, Carrier, Samsung, etc.) with specified BTU ratings.
• Replacement of compressors, fan motors, isolators, PC boards, and other components suitable for the respective units.
• Compliance with South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other relevant standards.
• Electrical installation and wiring must adhere to the South African National Electrical Code and related standards.
• Provision of certificates of compliance upon completion of electrical work.
• Use of CIDB grade 1ME or above contractors.
• Adherence to health and safety protocols, including risk assessments and safe work procedures.

Skills and Qualifications Requirements

Bidder must demonstrate:

• CIDB registration with a grade of 1ME or higher.
• Qualified and certified air conditioning mechanics with relevant trade certificates.
• Experience in executing similar air conditioning repair projects, supported by verifiable references and completion certificates.
• Ability to provide a minimum six-month guarantee on repairs and components.
• Knowledge of electrical standards and safety regulations, with qualified electrical personnel involved in electrical works.
• Capability to prepare and submit health and safety documentation, including risk assessments and compliance certificates.
• Provision of proof of financial capacity to undertake the project, including proof of available capital or credit facilities.
