Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure repair services for the Main Cylinder at the Waste Transfer Station for the period 2025-2026. The work aims to ensure the proper functioning of various components of the facility, including wear plates, guide rails, seals, and other hydraulic and mechanical parts, to prepare for the upcoming high season and maintain operational efficiency.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Repair works at the Waste Transfer Station, including replacement and repair of wear plates, guide rails, nylons, seals, hold-down bars, and other hydraulic and mechanical components.
• Inspection and maintenance of electrical controls, winch systems, container hooks, wheels, shafts, and body plates.
• Work to be completed within 5 working days at the Knysna Waste Transfer Station, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Guarantees and warranties on replaced components and workmanship.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Repair and replacement of specific parts such as wear plates, guide rails, nylons, seals, hold-down bars, and hydraulic components.
• Inspection and testing of electrical controls, interlocks, limit switches, winch chains, sprockets, and container hooks.
• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act No. 85 of 1993) and Construction Regulations 2014.
• Guarantees: All replaced components must carry manufacturer guarantees; workmanship guaranteed for a minimum of 12 months.
• Completion of work within 5 days, with no impact on ongoing operations.
• Adherence to pricing, delivery, and safety standards specified in the tender documentation.

Skills and Qualifications Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Experience in executing similar repair projects, with at least three (3) comparable projects completed successfully. Evidence in the form of orders or appointment letters must be provided.
• Technical competence in hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems related to waste transfer station equipment.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations applicable to construction and repair work.
• Capability to complete repairs within the stipulated timeframe without disrupting station operations.
• Registered CIDB grading (if applicable) and proof of compliance with municipal and tax regulations.
• Ability to provide guarantees on workmanship and replaced components.
