Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the repair and maintenance of the gates at Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital (CJM). The work involves repairing, upgrading, and replacing structural components of the hospital gates to ensure proper functionality, security, and safety.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Repair and replacement of damaged gates at various entrances (main entrance, exit, OPD entrance, and delivery entrance).
• Earthworks such as removing old gate rails, trenching, and installing new heavy-duty angle iron rails.
• Construction of new galvanized gate beams, panels, supporting beams, and supporting structures.
• Installation of new gate locking mechanisms, steel wheels, aligners, and steel razor tops.
• Repair and servicing of existing gate motors, including programming, calibration, and securing motors.
• Electrical work involving conduit installation, wiring, circuit breakers, and remote controls.
• Installation and reallocation of boom gates, including conduit wiring, motor servicing, and boom arm installation.
• Site clearance, waste management, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All materials and components must be new, unused, and conform to SABS and SANS standards.
• All work must adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993, relevant regulations, and standards such as SABS, ICASA, and the South African Bureau of Standards.
• Earthworks must be performed with proper concrete and welding, ensuring gates are flush and securely anchored.
• Electrical installations must include proper conduit, wiring, and circuit breakers, with motors calibrated and programmed correctly.
• All electrical and mechanical work must be tested, commissioned, and handed over in working order.
• Work must be completed within a specified period of one week for structural repairs, with a minimum guarantee period of three months for all materials and workmanship.
• Site safety, waste disposal, and environmental considerations must be strictly followed.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must possess:

• Valid CIDB grading of at least 1 SQ or above, indicating capability in structural and civil works.
• Proven experience in gate repair, structural steel work, and electrical installations related to gate automation.
• Qualified personnel including skilled artisans, electricians, and welders capable of executing the scope of work to industry standards.
• Knowledge of relevant South African standards (SABS, SANS) and safety regulations.
• Ability to perform earthworks, welding, electrical wiring, and mechanical servicing as per specifications.
• Capacity to manage site safety, waste disposal, and project timelines effectively.
