Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to replace the air conditioning units at Shelly Beach Clinic, ensuring the installation of new split-type air conditioners that meet specified capacity and quality standards, and to ensure proper testing, commissioning, and handover in accordance with departmental and safety regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of one (1) split-unit air conditioning system with a minimum capacity of 12,000 Btu, including reverse cycle heating.
• Positioning of units as indicated on site.
• Connection of refrigerant piping, electrical wiring, and control systems.
• Provision of weatherproof enclosures, isolators, and drainage piping.
• Testing, commissioning, and handing over the units in operational condition.
• Adherence to safety, health, and departmental standards throughout the project.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Use of approved brands such as Samsung or equivalent.
• Split-type, wall-mounted units with reverse cycle heating and cooling.
• Electrical supply of 220V, 50Hz, single-phase.
• Proper insulation of refrigerant pipes and neat installation of electrical wiring in PVC trunking.
• Installation of condensate drainage in PVC piping to ground level.
• Compliance with the Department of Public Works and Land Affairs standards for electrical and mechanical installations.
• Provision of electrical certificates of compliance and safety testing.
• Guarantee period of 12 months and maintenance support.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• Proven experience in installing and commissioning split-type air conditioning systems in healthcare or similar environments.
• Qualified electrical technicians with valid certifications (e.g., Wiremen’s License, SARACCA or SAIRAC registration).
• Technicians skilled in refrigeration, HVAC installation, and electrical wiring in accordance with SABS standards.
• Ability to prepare and submit safety, health, and environmental compliance documentation.
• Capacity to provide ongoing maintenance and support for at least 12 months post-installation.
