Objectives

The primary objectives of this tender are to replace broken window panes at nurses stations and to replace a broken security gate at the pharmacy within KwaMagwaza Hospital. The aim is to upgrade security and safety measures at key hospital points to ensure proper functioning and protection of staff and medication.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Replacing broken window panes at nurses stations (both male and female wards).
• Replacing the broken expanding security gate at the pharmacy.
• Providing all necessary materials, tools, and competent personnel to complete the tasks.
• Completing the work within four weeks from the date of order issuance.
• Ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations during execution.
• Disposal of waste materials in accordance with environmental regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the work include:

• Use of tempered glass (4mm thick) for window pane replacements, with size specifications as per the BOQ.
• Replacement of security gates with approved composite epoxy powder-coated galvanized mild steel gates, including floor rails and locks, matching specified sizes.
• Compliance with relevant standards such as SABS EN 10240 and SABS 1461 for security gates.
• Adherence to safety regulations and occupational health and safety standards (Act 85, 1993).
• Proper installation, inspection, and testing of all components.
• Provision of necessary certificates and statutory inspections.

Skills Requirements

The bidder must possess:

• Valid Grade 1GB CIDB registration or higher.
• Trade test certificate in carpentry.
• At least one completion certificate for similar tasks involving window pane replacement and security gate installation.
• Competence in using appropriate tools and materials as per specifications.
• Ability to work within hospital operational hours with minimal disruption.
