Objectives

The primary objective is to procure and execute the complete removal of damaged aluminium doors and supply/install replacement units at the Nurses College facility within Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital. The project aims to restore structural integrity, security, and functional consistency while complying with provincial health infrastructure and safety standards.

Scope of Work

The contractor will manage a comprehensive door replacement programme across nine designated locations. Key deliverables include:

• Dismantling and safely removing all existing damaged aluminium doors.
• Supplying and installing new heavy-duty aluminium doors, shutter-proof glass, lockers, tower bolts, handles, signage markers, trilly doors, and associated hardware.
• Resecuring trilly doors and installing aluminium square tubing where specified.
• Patching, repainting, and restoring affected wall areas to match existing finishes.
• Managing construction waste through safe onsite containment and accredited disposal.
• Ensuring all work complies with occupational health and safety regulations and remains subject to departmental inspection.

The contract period is strictly two weeks from official site handover, divided into one week for preparation and one week for execution.

Technical Requirements

All materials and installations must meet stringent provincial standards:

• Materials must be new, unused, and certified to SABS/SANS standards.
• Replacement doors and components must exactly replicate existing dimensions, finishes, and hardware configurations. Final measurements must be verified onsite prior to fabrication.
• Specific technical items include heavy-duty aluminium doors with double shutter-proof glass, 50mm x 50mm x 5mm aluminium square tubing, chevron plates, heavy-duty trilly doors, and red glass letter markers.
• Work must adhere to the National Building Regulations, KZNPA Standard Preambles, SABS 0142 wiring code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Electrical and mechanical tasks are excluded from standard building measurement procedures and must be priced separately.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

Bidders must demonstrate verified capability and regulatory compliance:

• CIDB registration with a minimum grading of 2GB.
• Valid Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration and current tax clearance status.
• Proof of previous successful deliveries to public or private health facilities (via delivery notes and invoices).
• Employment of competent, trade-skilled artisans supervised by a qualified project representative.
• Submission of updated CIPC registration documents and B-BBEE status verification (certificate or sworn affidavit).
• Ability to complete all administrative, compulsory, and mandatory returnable documentation without omission or alteration.

Notable Terms and Conditions

Several contractual elements require careful attention:

• Re-measurable Pricing: Quoted unit rates are fixed, but final payments will be adjusted based on actual onsite quantities measured after installation commences.
• Guarantee Period: A minimum three-month warranty applies from first delivery, supported by a twelve-month contract guarantee certificate confirming zero defects across all replaced doors.
• 80/20 Preference Point System: Evaluation allocates 80 points for price competitiveness and 20 points specifically for promoting South African-owned enterprises. Proof of ownership must be submitted to claim these points.
• Compulsory Site Briefing: Attendance at the mandatory pre-tender meeting is strictly enforced. Failure to attend results in automatic disqualification.
