Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to replace a 300-meter, 22kV XLPE cable connecting Mini Sub No.1 to Mini Sub No.2 at Nkonjeni Hospital. The project aims to ensure reliable electrical supply by installing a new cable that meets specified technical standards, thereby improving the hospital's electrical infrastructure and safety.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Excavation of a trench approximately 300 meters long.
• Supply and installation of a 22kV, 95mm² XLPE cable.
• Preparation of the trench with river sand before and after cable laying.
• Backfilling the trench with compacted soil.
• Issuance of a Certificate of Compliance (COC) upon completion.

The project also involves testing, commissioning, and ensuring adherence to safety and technical standards as specified in the detailed technical specifications.

Technical Requirements

• The cable must be 300 meters of 22kV, 95mm² XLPE cable, compliant with SANS/SABS standards.
• Supply and installation must include trenching, cable laying, backfilling, and testing.
• Use of approved proprietary materials, verified and tested according to South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).
• All work must be completed within a contract period of 15 days.
• Proper safety measures, including a safety plan, must be implemented.
• Issuance of a valid Certificate of Compliance (COC) upon completion.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Technical expertise in electrical cable installation, trenching, and testing.
• Experience in executing similar electrical infrastructure projects in hospital or similar environments.
• Qualified personnel capable of verifying materials, conducting tests, and issuing compliance certificates.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including OHS Act compliance and site safety planning.
• Ability to coordinate with hospital maintenance and safety officers to ensure smooth project execution.
