Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to replace the existing floor carpets in the SCM offices at NHLS Sandringham Campus with tiles, ensuring a durable, aesthetically pleasing, and functional flooring solution that meets the specified standards and requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Removal of existing carpets and preparation of the subfloor.
• Supply and installation of new tiles (porcelain marble look, 1200mm x 600mm, 10mm thick) for flooring, including skirting tiles (1200mm x 200mm).
• Preparation and finishing of walls, ceilings, and other surfaces as specified.
• Installation of internal glass, blinds, suspended ceilings, drywall partitioning, doors, and related fixtures.
• Electrical and plumbing works as required for sinks, toilets, geysers, and associated fittings.
• Painting and finishing of walls, ceilings, and doors to match existing or specified colors.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards throughout the project.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of A Grade, acid-resistant, non-slippery porcelain tiles for floors and walls.
• Application of approved tile cement and waterproof, acid-resistant grout (grey, 5-10mm gaps).
• Proper surface preparation to ensure smooth, level, and dry surfaces before tile installation.
• Installation of glass panes (not exceeding 1.5m² for 4mm float glass; exceeding 1.5m² to use 6mm laminated safety glass).
• Fitting of blinds, suspended ceilings, drywall partitions, and doors as per manufacturer’s instructions and specifications.
• Electrical wiring and installations to comply with SANS10142 standards, including proper labeling and safety measures.
• Plumbing installations to be carried out by registered plumbers, including sinks, toilets, urinals, and geysers, with appropriate fixtures and safety features.
• Painting to be executed with specified paints, priming, and surface preparation, ensuring neatness and durability.
• Adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, including hazard management and site safety protocols.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• CIDB registration with a grading of 1GB or higher.
• Experience in similar large-scale tiling and renovation projects within institutional or healthcare environments.
• Qualified and certified professionals for electrical, plumbing, and carpentry works.
• Capability to coordinate multi-disciplinary trades, including tiling, electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards applicable to construction and renovation projects.
• Ability to manage project timelines, quality control, and compliance with specifications and standards.
• Provision of relevant documentation such as project experience, CVs of key personnel, and compliance certificates.
