Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure calibration verification services for energy meters. The aim is to perform on-site testing and verification of energy billing meters (CT driven) across various substations and RMUs within the City of uMhlathuze, ensuring compliance with relevant standards (NRS 057) and maintaining accurate energy measurement for billing purposes.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Performing on-site calibration verification of 100 active energy meters from different manufacturers and models (Landis+Gyr, EDMI, Elster) across different voltage networks (400 V, 11 KV, 132 kV).
• Connecting to meters using calibrated testing equipment and optical eyes.
• Capturing phasor diagrams and photographs of meters/installations.
• Compiling and submitting detailed reports with photographic evidence, preferably on a USB flash drive.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the service provider include:

• Personnel must be qualified technicians with a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering Heavy Current.
• Operators must hold an Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems (ORHVS) Certificate.
• Provision of calibration certificates for testing equipment or a clear photo of the calibration sticker showing the last calibration date.
• Proof of relevant experience in similar calibration projects.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for personnel include:

• Qualified electrical technicians with a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering Heavy Current.
• Certification in Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems (ORHVS).
• Experience in on-site calibration verification of energy meters.
• Ability to operate calibrated testing equipment and document findings accurately.
