Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to conduct assessments, carry out repairs, and ensure electrical compliance across various offices for the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in the KwaZulu-Natal region. The aim is to verify existing electrical installations, rectify deficiencies, upgrade electrical systems, and ensure all sites meet the required safety and compliance standards.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Assessment and verification of existing electrical installations (distribution boards, wiring, etc.) at multiple offices and facilities.
• Labeling and documentation of existing electrical systems.
• Retrofit and upgrade of lighting systems, including installation of LED tubes, floodlights, and emergency lighting.
• Installation of new electrical plug points with USB and Type-C ports.
• Electrical connections for specific units such as guard rooms, ablution facilities, gate motors, and cubicles.
• Provision for unseen or additional works, with approval, to address unforeseen electrical issues.
• Work to be performed across multiple districts including Midlands, Durban, Kwadukuza, Pinetown, Lamontville, Inanda, PISCOS, and Mpumalanga.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Assessment and verification of existing distribution boards (DBs) and electrical systems in line with SANS 10142 standards.
• Labeling of existing installations and correction of wiring or system deficiencies.
• Supply and installation of energy-efficient LED lighting (e.g., 5ft LED tubes, floodlights, emergency lights) with specified technical features such as flicker-free operation, broad spectrum, surge protection, and warranties.
• Installation of electrical plug points compliant with NRCS (SABS) standards, including USB and Type-C ports.
• Connection of prefabricated units and other electrical equipment to existing distribution boards with appropriate cabling and breakers.
• Provision for unanticipated electrical work, with prior approval, to address unforeseen issues.
• Compliance with relevant standards, safety, and electrical codes.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Valid CIDB grading of 1EB or higher, indicating capability to undertake electrical installation and repair works.
• Technical expertise in electrical assessment, compliance verification, and retrofit of electrical systems.
• Experience in installing LED lighting, floodlights, emergency lighting, and electrical plug points.
• Knowledge of SANS 10142 standards and relevant safety regulations.
• Ability to perform detailed labeling, documentation, and certification of electrical installations.
• Qualified electrical personnel capable of executing the scope of work efficiently and safely.
• Capacity to handle multiple sites across different districts with adherence to project timelines and safety standards.
