Objectives

The primary objectives of this tender are to repair the underground cable from the main distribution box (D/box) to the station building, repair the underground cable from the generator to the station, and repair the burned breakers in the main D/box.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Testing and repairing faults on 10mm x 4 core underground cables.
• Installing joints for 10mm cables and ensuring the cables are in good working condition to supply electricity to the station.
• Testing and repairing faults on 25mm x 4 core underground cables.
• Installing joints for 25mm cables and ensuring the cables are in good working condition to supply electricity to the station.
• Replacing burned 63A 3-pole circuit breakers (25kA).

The work also involves providing all labour, materials, and equipment necessary for the repairs, including testing, installation, and verification to ensure functionality.

Technical Requirements

• Use of qualified electrical personnel for all electrical work.
• Testing of underground cables for faults and repairs using appropriate methods.
• Installation of cable joints and ensuring cable integrity and safety standards are met.
• Replacement of damaged circuit breakers with specified ratings.
• Provision of proof of purchase for materials used and leaving redundant materials on site for verification.
• Adherence to SABS standards, Public Works standards, and electrical regulations.
• Completion of all work within the stipulated time frame, with a workmanship guarantee of 3 months.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified electrical engineers or technicians with experience in underground cable testing and repairs.
• Skilled artisans or tradesmen with expertise in cable jointing, installation, and circuit breaker replacement.
• Personnel capable of conducting fault testing and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Ability to prepare and submit detailed reports, including test results and proof of materials used.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, safety protocols, and standards applicable to electrical infrastructure repairs.
