Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a reputable service provider to perform the service of fire equipment maintenance and related works at various NHLS laboratories in Limpopo for a period of three years. The service aims to ensure that fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems are properly maintained, tested, and compliant with relevant standards to ensure safety and regulatory adherence.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Neat arrangement and grouping of wiring panels, with proper labeling after servicing.
• Reprogramming of addressable fire alarm control panels if software issues are identified.
• Servicing and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems, including compatible detection devices and control devices as per standards.
• Thorough functional and performance testing of all fire equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with manufacturer instructions, statutory regulations, and standards such as SANS 1475.
• Provision of detailed reports and certification of system functionality before acceptance.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All wiring must be neatly arranged, grouped, and labeled.
• Addressable fire alarm systems must be reprogrammed if software errors are present, using approved control panels.
• Fire panels must be of a make and type approved by the South African Qualification & Certification Committee (SAQCC) Fire.
• Servicing must adhere to South African National Standards (SANS 1475).
• All detection and control devices connected to the systems must be compatible and acceptable to the Fire Detection Installers Association (FDIA).
• Testing of all fire equipment must be comprehensive, including functional and performance tests, prior to sign-off.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Provision of at least two qualified technicians with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in installation and maintenance of fire prevention and protection systems.
• Technicians must have relevant qualifications, CVs, and proof of registration with the SAQCC Fire.
• Experience in conducting thorough testing, servicing, and reprogramming of fire alarm systems.
• Ability to provide references from at least three similar projects completed within the last three years, demonstrating relevant experience and successful project completion.
• Knowledge of compliance standards, industry best practices, and statutory requirements related to fire safety systems in South Africa.
