Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the service of an emergency generator at Maphumulo Clinic, ensuring reliable power supply through maintenance and servicing of the existing 100 KVA Deutz engine generator. The service aims to ensure the generator operates efficiently and meets specified standards, supporting continuous healthcare services at the facility.

Scope

The scope includes the comprehensive servicing of the emergency generator, covering major maintenance tasks such as oil change, filter replacements, radiator flushing, coolant topping, electrical checks, and functional testing of control panels and switchovers. The service must be performed by qualified personnel, including electricians and diesel mechanics, at Maphumulo Clinic. The service is a one-time, major maintenance activity, with detailed specifications provided, and must comply with relevant standards and specifications.

Technical Requirements

• Drain and replace engine oil with 15W-40 grade
• Flush engine to remove sludge build-up
• Remove and install new air, oil, and fuel filters
• Fill engine with specified oil and flush radiator with Alu Clean and radiator flush
• Ensure radiator coolant is between 90-99%
• Inspect and test the crankcase heater, drive belts, diesel pump, injectors, coolant sight glass, electrical control panel, changeover switch, Deep Sea controller, AVR, and alternator
• Check and replace batteries as needed
• Perform radiator and engine flushing procedures
• Conduct electrical and mechanical checks to ensure operational integrity

Skills Requirements

The service must be carried out by qualified and competent personnel, specifically:

• Electricians with relevant certification for electrical system checks and connections
• Diesel mechanics with experience in servicing Deutz engines and related components
• Personnel familiar with generator standards such as SABS, SANAS, and SAQCC
• Technicians capable of performing radiator flushing, oil and filter replacements, and electrical testing
