Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider to conduct road and paving maintenance and repairs at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden for a period of three years. The scope includes general maintenance, environmental considerations, and support for sustainable material use to ensure the upkeep and safety of the garden's roads and pathways.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Repair and 36-month maintenance of roads and pathways within Kirstenbosch Garden.
• General maintenance activities including environmental considerations and sustainable material use.
• Traffic and pedestrian management during works.
• Temporary works approval and construction as per SANBI specifications.

The works are located at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Cape Town, with access arrangements made in coordination with SANBI maintenance personnel.

Technical Requirements

• Registration with CIDB at contractor grading Level 1CE or higher, or capable of registration prior to evaluation.
• Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, including submission of a Health and Safety Plan.
• Provision of valid Public Liability Insurance and proof of compliance with COIDA.
• Submission of detailed project methodology, experience, and resources, including CVs of key personnel such as Site Agent and OHS Officer.
• Demonstration of experience through relevant references and completed projects within the last ten years.
• Adherence to SANBI’s environmental and safety standards, traffic management, and environmental considerations during construction.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in road and paving maintenance projects, especially in sensitive or landscape-sensitive sites.
• Qualified personnel including Site Agents with professional registration (ECSA or SACPCMP) and OHS Officers with relevant certifications.
• Capability to develop and implement specific project plans and methodologies tailored to the site and scope.
• Strong health and safety management skills, including the ability to prepare and execute comprehensive Health and Safety Plans.
• Experience in traffic and pedestrian management, environmental considerations, and sustainable construction practices.
