Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a turnkey service provider to assess the existing water filtration system at the National Zoological Garden (NZG) in Pretoria. The provider will evaluate the current system's suitability, provide a feasibility and design solution, and implement necessary repairs or a new water treatment system to ensure optimal operation and future readiness.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Conducting a conditional assessment of the current filtration system installed in 2010.
• Identifying components and designing an optimized system or proposing a new filtration solution if required.
• Developing a Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and pricing for optional items.
• Implementing and installing the approved solution.
• Providing handover documentation, certificates, and maintenance support for a five-year period.
• Following project stages: inception, concept and viability, design development, documentation and procurement, construction, and close-out.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Assessment of the existing filtration system’s suitability for current and future needs.
• Component identification and system design or redesign.
• Preparation of detailed documentation, including BOQ and procurement specifications.
• Implementation of repairs or a new turnkey filtration/water treatment system.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards during construction and operation.
• Provision of maintenance and support services over a five-year period post-installation.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires the following key skills and professional expertise:

• Professional Mechanical Engineer (Lead Consultant)
• Professional Electrical Engineer
• Professional Quantity Surveyor
• Occupational Health & Safety Agent

Applicants must provide detailed CVs demonstrating:

• Relevant experience (minimum of 5 years, with preference for more than 10 years).
• Proven track record in managing similar infrastructure projects, including design, installation, and maintenance.
• Qualifications and registration with the appropriate professional bodies.
• Methodology and approach tailored to the project’s scope and location.

Additionally, the team must have the capacity to manage project stages, procurement, compliance, and safety standards effectively.
