Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a service for the fire detector system at Manguzi Hospital. The service aims to ensure the proper maintenance, inspection, and functionality of the fire detection system to comply with safety standards and regional regulations.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Routine servicing and preventive maintenance of the fire detector system at multiple locations within Manguzi Hospital, including paediatric wards, female ward, isolation ward, MDR ward, and other designated areas.
• Inspection and testing of control panels, power supplies, field devices (smoke and heat detectors, manual call points), alarms, and ancillary equipment.
• Verification of system components such as batteries, sensors, indicators, and interfaces to ensure operational readiness.
• Documentation of service activities, fault clearing, and reporting in compliance with occupational health and safety and municipal fire bylaws.

Technical Requirements

The service must include:

• Inspection and testing of control panels, including battery load testing and fault finding.
• Verification of field devices: smoke and heat detectors, manual call points, and visual inspection for damage or obstructions.
• Activation and testing of alarms, sirens, and visual indicators to ensure proper operation.
• Verification of ancillary interfaces such as elevator recall, HVAC shutdown, access control, and fire suppression systems.
• Updating the fire alarm logbook with service details and faults identified or cleared.
• Generation of detailed inspection reports to confirm compliance with standards such as SANS 10139 or BS 5839.
• Services must be performed by registered technicians with relevant fire prevention certifications.

Skills and Qualifications Requirements

• Technicians must be registered with relevant fire prevention bodies, such as the South African Qualification and Certification Committee for the Fire Industry.
• Proven experience in servicing fire detection and alarm systems, supported by previous service level agreements or purchase orders.
• Knowledge of regional standards and regulations related to fire safety, occupational health, and municipal fire bylaws.
• Ability to perform comprehensive testing, fault diagnosis, and reporting in accordance with safety and quality standards.
